REGISTER TO VOTE IN YOUR HOME STATE

ATTENTION STUDENTS!

Please remember that voter registration deadlines
are just weeks away for many states.

You need to not only make sure you are registered, but that your friends and family are also registered, no matter where they live (or also go to school). If you think you are already registered, you should confirm that all information (like your address) is correct.

This is especially important in the 18 battleground states in this election, where every single vote is so very crucial. Those states are: Alaska, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Indiana, Michigan, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Virginia.

If you are from one of these states, or know anyone at all in them, try to add as many voter registrations as you possibly can, starting with yours!

All of this can be done at the campaign built website
http://www.voteforchange.com

VOTER REGISTRATION DEADLINES

ABSENTEE BALLOT INFORMATION

After you confirm you are registered in your home state, next you will need to find out how and when to submit your absentee ballot. This varies state to state, so be sure to check and doublecheck the rules for yours.

This information can also be found when you access
http://www.voteforchange.com

CAN I VOTE WHERE I GO TO SCHOOL?

There is often concern about where college students can register to vote. These laws differ in each state, and there is a 50-state guide to these rules at www.brennancenter.org/studentvoting

HELP FIND SUPPORTERS AT YOUR SCHOOL ON FACEBOOK

You can build your college volunteering group
by searching for fellow student supporters on Facebook.
Track them down and get them working for Change!

  • Log into Facebook
  • Click “Search” then “Profile Search” within your school’s network - and select “Democratic Party” from the “Political Views” dropdown menu
  • Click “Search” and the results will be all the self identified Democrats at your school
  • Skip alumni, and look for current students with ‘09, ‘10, ‘11, and ‘12 etc
  • Contact these students either by message or emailing them if their email address is available, and ask them if they are interested in volunteering with you for the campaign, or perhaps to join your Obama-centric group (Facebook does not allow “spamming” so you can’t copy and paste the same message more than a couple times (it will send you a warning) so the best way to avoid that is to try to get people’s actual e-mail addresses off of their profiles (some people have privacy settings where you won’t be able to see their profile - but you should try) and then send an e-mail from your personal e-mail account - if you do use the Facebook messaging system, you must vary the phrasing of your messages)
  • You can also search people’s profiles in any network by looking for “Obama” in the Interest or Activities field, or “Obama”, “Audacity of Hope”, or “Dreams of my Father” in the Books field.
  • HAPPY HUNTING!
SISTER SCHOOL PROGRAM

Through Students for Barack Obama, more than 30 New York colleges have partnered with over 30 Pennsylvania colleges under an official “NY-PA Sister School” program.

NY students from Buffalo to Albany to NYC have begun traveling to their respective “PA Sister Schools” to help register PA voters, canvass door-to-door, and help Get-Out-The-Vote (GOTV), in addition to setting up student-run phone banks on their NY campuses to call PA voters in the cities and towns surrounding their sister schools. Find your school below and get started!
